Bronislaw Bartel (1887-1968), painter and printmaker, educator. In 1905-10 he studied at the Academy of Fine Arts in Cracow (with J. Fałat, T. Axentowicz, F. Ruszczyc). From 1912-19 he lived in Warsaw, then became associated with Poznan, where he was, among other things, manager of the St. Adalbert Printing House. He was associated with the Wielkopolska art groups "Świt" and "Plastyka". From 1922-26 he taught at the State School of Artistic Industry in Bydgoszcz, and then at the State School of Decorative Arts in Poznan (until 1939). After the war, he was director of the High School of Fine Arts in Poznań (1946-51).
