Painter and educator, member of the Brotherhood of St. Luke and the ŁAD Artists' Cooperative. Studied at the Municipal Drawing School in Warsaw under M. Kotarbiński and J. Kauzik, then at the private school of Konrad Krzyżanowski (1921-22), and at the School of Fine Arts under Tadeusz Pruszkowski (1926). He also studied printmaking with Władysław Skoczylas. He continued his artistic education in France. Since the l. 1930s he was a lecturer at the School of Fine Arts in Warsaw and the Municipal School of Decorative and Painting Arts. Co-organizer and president of the Professional Artists' Bloc. After the war, he continued to work at the revived Municipal School of Decorative Arts and Painting (WSSP), and after the merger with the School of Fine Arts - as a professor at the Warsaw Academy of Fine Arts (since 1947).
